Alateen is similar to Al-anon in that members
deal with the difficulties of having a problem
drinker or substance abuser they are close
to but Alateen is geared toward teenagers.
Alateen members often deal with alcoholic
parents or siblings who are substance abusers.
The recovery program for Alateen is similar
to that of Al-anon in that they are both based
on the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. If
you are a teenager and are bothered by somebody
else's drinking then Alateen is for you. Even
if the problem drinker doesn't live with you,
is not a relative or has even received help
with his or her drinking problem, Alateen
can help with the coping mechanisms that often
persist long after the crisis has ended. If
